England were beaten 1-0 by Italy on Friday and relegated from their Nations League group
England have failed to win in five and haven’t scored from open play since March, which isn’t ideal.
Southgate regulars such as Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have struggled to buy time for Manchester United this season and the Three Lions boss doesn’t seem to know his best side.
But despite that, big changes are to be expected from the side that lost on Friday night.
And Germany doesn’t look good either, so there could be a lot of changes there too.
talkSPORT.com takes a look at how each team could start at Wembley…
England
The Three Lions only have Jordan Henderson to worry about.
The Liverpool captain missed a few weeks with a hamstring problem but was called up to the squad as a late replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

Southgate is under intense pressure ahead of the World Cup
Southgate said at his press conference on Sunday that Henderson would be available but is unlikely to start.
There should be a lot of turnover as a few players try to make the starting XI for the Iran clash and create some positivity ahead of the tournament.
Aaron Ramsdale is set to replace Nick Pope following the Newcastle United goalkeeper’s departure on Friday.
In defence, expect to see John Stones return after his suspension alongside Eric Dier and Tottenham’s Kyle Walker as the third centre-back. Fikayo Tomori was one of five players left out of the matchday squad.
Kieran Trippier has previously played at left-back for Southgate, so he could come in with Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell lacking in match sharpness.
On the other side, Trent Alexander-Arnold was another squad absentee with Reece James likely to start again.

Alexander-Arnold could have a chance against Germany on Monday
In midfield, Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham look like a good mix of power and creativity.
Harry Kane will start up front, leaving Ivan Toney and Tammy Abraham both on the bench.
Toney was dropped from the squad to face Italy, but is involved against Germany.
Southgate are heavily valuing Mason Mount so expect to see him involved while Jack Grealish, who performed well after joining the San Siro, will be unavailable due to suspension.
Raheem Sterling has been the England boss’s left-winger and, as he needs a result against Germany, he’s likely to start.
James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen were the other two who will not play a role.
How England could line up against Germany
Germany
Hansi Flick’s side have been hit by a wave of COVID and illness, which forced Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka and Julian Brandt out of the team.
This means Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen should keep his place in goal.
West Ham’s Thilo Kehrer came off the bench against Hungary to replace the right-back and will likely retain his place.
Antonio Rudiger is suspended, so Nico Schlotterbeck will join Borussia Dortmund team-mate Niklas Sule in the heart of defence.

Musiala could have played for England, but chose Germany
RB Leipzig’s David Raum is a major weapon for Flick and will most likely be at left-back.
Ilkay Gundogan and Joshua Kimmich are the obvious choices in the middle, while Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala could show England what they’ve been missing out on.
Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry should be behind Kai Havertz after Timo Werner struggled to impress against Hungary.
