Conor McGregor is looking forward to his next fight after watching one of his training partners compete.
Former PFL featherweight champion Brendan Loughnane recently struck up a friendship with McGregor when the two trained together in Dubai.
Last week, Loughnane got back in the win column by knocking out one of McGregor’s SBG teammates, Pedro Carvalho, to get his final PFL season off to a perfect start.
In 86 seconds, Loughnane improved his knockout record to 15 in 28 wins, five fewer than the 19 “Notorious” earned during his Hall of Fame career.
On the most recent episode of talkSPORT MMA’s Uncaged podcast, combat sports reporter Adam Catterall presented a list of British and Irish MMA fighters with the most strike stoppages.
Loughnane was already aware of this and pointed out that McGregor contacted him after talking about it on social media a day earlier.

“Conor actually messaged me when he saw it,” he said.
“He told me: ‘I’m going to get my 20th In [June]’.
“I said, ‘We’ve got some catching up to do, no one’s going near Paul Daley.'”
Daley is a former UFC welterweight contender who was kicked out of MMA’s premier promotion for punching his opponent after their 2010 fight ended.
“Semtex” is known for its explosive power. The 41-year-old has scored 35 knockout victories in his career and is the most prolific puncher in Anglo-Irish MMA history.
Welsh middleweight John Phillips is far behind him in second place with 20 knockouts, McGregor follows him with 19 and former UFC champion Michael Bisping rounds out the top four with 18 knockouts.
Retired light heavyweight star Jimi Manuwa is tied for fifth place with Loughnane after racking up 15 KO victories in MMA.
Loughnane added: “It’s legendary. I have to pinch myself looking at this list, it’s crazy!
Loughnane will look to continue to rise through the ranks and become a two-time PFL champion later this year, while McGregor is currently in camp preparing for a fight.
McGregor hasn’t fought since breaking his leg in July 2021, but he is expected to return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29.
Former UFC double-weight titleholder aims for a 20th career knockout and equals Phillips’ record to become the second highest finisher in British and Irish MMA history.
McGregor recently said he will fight forever and may have to if he hopes to be anywhere close to breaking Daley’s remarkable knockout record.
