Roman is the latest Fury to join the ranks of professional boxing
Unlike Tyson or his younger brother Tommy, Roman has no amateur training or any real experience in the sport.
“If it’s nothing else, it’s history,” Roman told VIP Boxing.
“How many people do you know who jump into the thick of it, with no experience or nothing, and do well? But that’s the challenge and I love challenges.
“I’ve always messed around on the pads with my dad and brothers since I was young, but actually in sparring and sparring I don’t have much experience.”
Roman revealed he only really started taking the sport seriously when the lockdown left him out of work and several stones heavier than usual.

The 25-year-old has no amateur experience
“Before, I weighed six stones more than I am now. I had 20 stones, a real mess. Lockdown happened, I had no job, I ate shit, I played Xbox and I had no life.
“Tommy invited me to train with him, I had a few sessions and started getting into it. I trained more and more until I went from two training sessions a week to six times a week and the weight went down, the confidence went up.
“It’s not just a physical thing, it’s also a mental thing. It completely changed my life. »
Roman will fight on the VIP Boxing card at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Saturday September 10.
He will prepare for his debut with trainer Jimmy Harrington, who also works with former Commonwealth featherweight champion Isaac Lowe.
