YOUR Android phone has a special setting that can significantly increase your battery life.
Millions of Androids models have access to this feature, but some gadget fans may not even know it exists.
The feature is called Extreme Battery Saver and is designed for when you need as much battery life as possible.
It’s an extra level above the standard battery saver, which already limits apps and features.
With Extreme Battery Saver, your phone will also pause most apps, disable more features and slow down processes.
However, this will not disable essential system features like your Phone, Messages, Clock, and Settings apps.
In an official Google note, the tech giant notes that it can “help your phone last up to 72 hours.”
This is in stark contrast to the usual 24 hours you might expect.
The memo cites a Google Pixel phone owner who had to use the feature while searching for a lost dog in the woods.
The user was quoted as saying: “My Pixel phone was a trooper! It kept going strong.”
HOW TO ACTIVATE EXTREME BATTERY SAVING MODE
To get started, you need to make sure you’re using the right Android phone.
Google explains: “On your Pixel 3 or later phone, including Fold, you can save even more power with extreme battery saver.
“Extreme Battery Saver allows Battery Saver to disable more features, pause most apps, and slow down processing for even more time between charges.”
To enable it, simply go to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver > Extreme Battery Saver.
You can also choose which apps are allowed to run with Extreme Battery Saver active.
To achieve the greatest savings, you will want to allow only the most critical applications.
To edit this list, go to Settings > Battery > Battery saver > Extreme Battery Saver > Essential apps.
When you enable Extreme Battery Saver mode, most apps on your phone will pause.
It is possible to re-enable specific applications if you really need them.
Google Pixel Battery Tips – The Official Guide
Here’s Google’s official advice for Pixel owners on how to optimize your battery charge…
Tip 1: Let the phone close apps you are not using.
Tip 2: Keep your phone and apps updated. Apps become more battery efficient with each new iteration, fixing errors and issues that consume power unnecessarily.
Tip 3: Lower the brightness. Save your eyes by lowering the brightness of your phone, while saving battery power. You can also set your phone to dark theme, which turns your background black. It consumes less power and also relieves some of the eye strain.
Tip 4: Know which apps and activities are power-hungry. Pixel users should be aware of which activities drain their battery the most. Video calls and gaming top the list. Users should also close applications that they have open but are not using.
Tap on a paused app, then you’ll be given the option to temporarily resume pausing.
This will reactivate the application until the following moment you decide to use Extreme Battery Saver.
