Bare-knuckle boxer calls herself ‘face of Frankenstein’ after suffering horrific injuries in 48-second knockout defeat

Bare-knuckle boxer Sydney Smith saw the funny side after suffering devastating injuries in her last fight.

The 32-year-old stepped up two weight classes on late notice to face Crystal Pittman at BKFC KnuckleMania 4 in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Smith was caught with a monstrous overhand in the opening moments of the fight and was finished off with a series of follow-up shots as she covered herself against the ropes.

Post-fight footage showed the Virginia brawler lost a tooth and was covered in bruises after being in the ring with Pittman for just 48 seconds.

A photo of Smith showing off her injuries on camera quickly went viral on social media, but she was keen to assure fans she was fine.

“Sundance” jokingly called herself “Frankenstein face” and gave an update on her health in a seven-minute video shared on her Instagram account after the fight.

“I just want to thank you so much for your support,” Smith said.

“I’m going to freeze Frankenstein’s face, but other than that, God is always good.

“Winning is good, but I picked two weight classes on a week’s notice and you know. I’m going to piss myself off before you tell me I’m scared. No problem.

“That’s what it is. I went in there and threw my hat in when the others didn’t. We live to fight another day. I hope they bring me back very, very soon .

“I’m fine. I just got caught in a few things and started to backtrack, but I guess it was too late. Well done Crystal, she’s lovely.

“That’s the way it is, you can’t win them all. I come back soon. I’m doing well. I’m fine, apart from hurt pride and a slightly swollen face.

“I got caught with some stuff and I was just kind of torturing myself for a second and then I started to back away and the ref had already stepped in to call it.

“I’m sorry I didn’t organize a war for you, but the next one will be better.”

Smith started out as an MMA fighter and compiled a 4-3 amateur record before losing her professional debut in the sport in 2023.

The strawweight star then switched to bare-knuckle boxing and won her first fight, but is now on a two-fight losing streak.

Smith will need to give his body time to heal before heading into another fight and trying to get his BKFC career back on track.
