Vincent Aboubakar confirmed his belief that he is as good as Mohamed Salah with a superb second-half display for Cameroon.
The 30-year-old was introduced in the 55th minute in the African Nation’s World Cup clash with Serbia, with Cameroon trailing 3-1 thanks to a Sergej Milinkovic-Savic masterclass.
However, the Al Nassr striker wasted no time in taking the game by the scruff of the neck and scored one and created in just 11 minutes on the pitch.
After breaking Serbia’s offside trap, Aboubakar collected the ball from the goalkeeper to make it 3-2, before breaking free and setting up Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo -Moting which tied the match at 3-3.
Having spent his best years at Lorient, Porto and Besiktas, Aboubakar has never been able to reach the top level of European football, but speaking earlier this month the striker insisted he was just as good as Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.
He said 90football.fr“I understand people’s attitude, he’s one of the best scorers in the Premier League.
“It makes sense that when you talk about a player like that, people talk.
“But I said that was my opinion, my point of view.
“I don’t care if people don’t like it – I’m not impressed with him.
“I can do what he does. I just don’t have the opportunity to play for a big club.
