The Calculator app is one of the most fundamental apps in macOS. Although there is still no version for iPad, it seems that Apple continues to focus on improving it in its other operating systems. According to AppleInsider, the company is reportedly preparing an overhaul of its macOS application. We should be able to see it very soon.
According to AppleInsider Reportedly, Apple is working on “GreyParrot”, an improved version of the Calculator app for macOS 15. Apple will announce this operating system at WWDC on June 10. In less than two months.
It appears that this revamped version of the calculator will include new features such as “Math Notes” or an updated currency system. In addition, AppleInsider claims that macOS 15 will make unit conversion easier and more intuitive than ever. These are all new features that should also come to iOS 18. With that in mind, it makes sense that Apple would develop them for macOS.
The new application would allow users to enlarge or reduce its window, and the interface would adapt to this. This is currently not possible, as we can only choose between two sizes and configurations. In addition, it will be possible to access a sidebar to show the calculations we have made previously, or to choose between different calculator modes.
We expect Apple to reveal the full details of this revamped calculator at WWDC 2024, which takes place on June 10. This looks like a solid upgrade over the current version, and we can only hope that Apple delivers on its promises and that the change is worth it.
