Many people prefer to use the Clubhouse app at night. However, it does not yet have a built-in dark mode. The light user interface tends to tire the eyes if used for an extended period of time, especially in dark environments. Fortunately, we have a few workarounds for using a dark and black theme in Clubhouse. Here’s how to activate dark mode in the Clubhouse app for Android and iOS.

Activate dark mode in the Clubhouse app for Android
It is quite easy for Android users to turn on Dark Mode in the Clubhouse app. You can either force dark mode or invert the colors on your phone. So, until Clubhouse officially rolls out the dark mode feature, you can follow the methods below.
Method 1- Force dark mode in the clubhouse
Many Android phones have the option to force dark mode in apps. You can find it on phones from Xiaomi, OnePlus and others with custom user interfaces. Here I am using a OnePlus device – the steps may vary depending on the make and model of your phone.
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Go to Display section.
- Here select Dark mode.
- Tap Manage apps in dark mode.
- Now activate the toggle for the Clubhouse app.
That’s it. You can now use dark mode in your Clubhouse app without any issues.
Method 2- Replace Force-Dark in Developer Settings
If you are using Android 10 and later, you can try to enable Forced Dark Undo option in Developer Settings. However, it may or may not help activate Dark Mode in Clubhouse.
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Go to System > Advanced > Developer options.
- Here scroll down and activate Ignore dark force.
In the meantime, make sure your phone’s dark mode is turned on in Settings > Display. Can’t find options for developers? Go to About the device section and press the Construction no. seven times to unlock developer settings.
Method 3- Color inversion
The other option is to use the color inversion option built into Android. It’s an accessibility feature that inverts all the colors on your phone screen: white turns black, black turns white. However, this is the last resort as it makes the pictures look strange due to the inversion.
Via settings
- Open Settings on your Android phone.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Here activate Color inversion.
- If you can’t find the option, search for “Invert” or “Invert Color” in the settings.
Via the Quick settings tile
- Open the Clubhouse app.
- Swipe down to open the notification panel.
- In the quick settings tile, find the Invert colors option.
- Tap on it and everything on your phone screen including the Clubhouse will turn to dark colors.
- Once the session is over, deactivate it in the same way.
Can’t find the Invert option in the quick set tile? This may be because it is not added to the tile. Tap the Edit (pen) icon in the notification panel and manually drag the option to the thumbnail menu.
Activate dark mode in the Clubhouse app for iOS (iPhone, iPad)
Unlike Android, iPhone users only have one option to get Dark Mode in the Clubhouse app, which is to invert the colors. Here’s how you can use it on your iPhone or iPad.
Enable smart inversion
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and click Accessibility.
- Here click on Text display and size.
- Activate the toggle for Smart reverse.
Once you’ve enabled Smart Invert, open the Clubhouse app – you’ll see a dark themed interface. Use it for as long as you want, and once you’re done, you can turn the feature off to keep things normal for the rest of the apps on your iPhone.
Why not Classic Invert? Smart Invert reverses display colors except for images, media, and apps that already use dark color styles. Whereas Classic Invert inverts all the colors on the screen which makes other things look weird.
Wrap
It was about how to activate and use the dark mode in the Clubhouse app. Personally, I use the force dark mode method for the Clubhouse app because my phone supports it. However, these are only temporary solutions. Hopefully the folks at Clubhouse will introduce the dark mode feature to the app soon. Until then, stay tuned.
