Dove Cameron pays tribute to Cameron Boyce.
The 26-year-old actress shared a sweet post on Instagram on Saturday, marking what would have been Boyce’s 23rd birthday.
Sharing a black-and-white video of her reaching out to Boyce’s hand while sitting next to him on a billboard, Cameron began her post’s caption by writing: “Somewhere unnamed, these moments are happening again for the first time, because the millionth time, in real time and all at once, as real as I remember them “back then”.
“You are there, always. We feel you, always. I will love you, unchanging, just like that,” she continued. “Happy birthday.”

Cameron’s message also included what appears to be a handwritten note from fire Descendants actor of the words “Maybe heaven is a jazz club”, written on lined paper.
Boyce died in his sleep at the age of 20 in July 2019. The cause of death was later determined to be an epileptic seizure, an ongoing health condition he was treating.
“It is with profoundly heavy hearts that we announce that this morning we lost Cameron,” a family spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time.

“He died in his sleep following a seizure resulting from an ongoing health problem for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly deprived of one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on thanks to the kindness and compassion of all those who knew and loved him,” they continued.
The spokesperson added: “We are heartbroken and ask for privacy during this extremely difficult time as we mourn the loss of our precious son and brother.”
THE The adults The actor’s parents later launched the Cameron Boyce Foundation in his memory, with the aim of providing “young people with artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity and to use resources and philanthropy for a positive change in the world.

“Cameron would have been 23 this year. Just thinking about it breaks my heart, every minute of every day,” Cameron’s father, Victor Boyce, told PEOPLE. “But every year on his birthday he didn’t want presents. He wanted to give back and he would always do something to help others. With that in mind, that’s why we’re having this gala.”
His mother, Libby Boyce, added: “We have an obligation to use Cameron’s voice. Even if he isn’t here physically, he would want us to, to bring attention to these isolated people and stigmatized because of their epilepsy.”

Alongside Cameron, another of Boyce’s friends and Disney Channel castmates also paid tribute to him on Saturday.
“Our angel. Forever. I love you my Cam,” Sofia Carson wrote, sharing a video of the birthday boy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing a song. She also shared some photo and video memories on her Instagram story.
