There is no shortage of impressive car collections. Museums, car manufacturers and individuals have their own. However, probably few collections are as special as that of the Audrain Auto Museum in Rhode Island. The collection has more than 450 cars, all maintained, registered and ready to drive.
The museum spreads the collection across multiple locations, including a warehouse and offsite buildings. These locations are usually closed to visitors, but Shmee150 got a chance to check out the entire collection in a 23-minute video that only scratches the surface of all the cool cars.
The Audrain collection should appeal to just about every car enthusiast because it doesn’t leave much out. Pre-war vintage cars rely on modern machines like the Ram TRX and the latest generation Ford GT. It has at least three Bugattis, several Mercedes models and countless Porsches, but the collection also includes iconic muscle cars, numerous Corvettes, including a split-window example, and even steam-powered automobiles.
The video also shows the museum, showcasing makes and models from the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. The current exhibit includes a 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata, 1988 Ford Mustang Convertible, Nissan Skyline GT -R from 1992 and a 1993 Acura NSX. There is also a Toyota Supra, a Subaru WRX STI and a Saab 900 Turbo SE Cabriolet.
The collection includes many Ferraris and Lamborghinis, including a rare black Ferrari Enzo and an original Lamborghini Aventador LP-700. The video is an endless parade of precious metals, featuring some of the rarest supercars and performance models ever built. Many Mercedes models carry the Black Series badge, for example, but not all cars are premium. The museum has a black Pontiac Solstice.
It’s one thing to have a massive collection, but it’s another to keep it all going. The cars cover the entire history of the automobile, from the early 1900s to the latest makes and models. The museum was founded in 2014 to preserve, celebrate and share automotive history. The collection also includes many motorcycles, cataloging the adventures of the world on wheels. The museum features exhibits throughout the year highlighting different aspects of the global automotive industry.
