Four companies still want to save Fisker, for some reason

Fisker has had an eventful few months to say the least. After the company said it would have to partner with another automaker before going bankrupt, negotiations with Nissan broke down. Then, Fisker quickly slashed inventory prices for a version of the Ocean SUV that may or may not exist. But there is still a small glimmer of hope.

According to Business Insider, CEO Henrik Fisker held an all-hands meeting last week and told employees that at least four automakers were still interested in a potential stake in the company. “We have four automakers that have signed NDAs,” Fisker told his employees last week. However, they obviously need time to do their due diligence. »

Fisker provided no timeline or details on which companies might be interested. Nissan certainly won’t be part of it after negotiations broke down following a $400 million deal that would restart production of the Alaska pickup and a separate electric pickup for Nissan.

If Fisker doesn’t reach an agreement with one of these four automakers within the next 30 days, bankruptcy could be inevitable. The company reportedly has only $54 million in liquidity and says this “will not be sufficient to meet its current obligations.” This comes months after the company delivered hundreds of cars and failed to collect millions of dollars in payments.

We’ll see in the coming weeks whether Fisker is able to strike a deal and stay afloat, or whether bankruptcy is imminent.
