In an adorable new TikTok shared by Sheryl Lee Ralph’s son, Etienne Maurice, the Emmy winner receives congratulatory flowers from none other than Beyoncé. “Saved the best for last,” Maurice wrote in the caption of the September 17 video.
Its caption refers to the many other bouquets Ralph has received since winning his first Emmy. She won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Quinta Brunson’s acclaimed “Abbott Elementary.” As the second black woman to win an Emmy in the title category, after Jackée Harry in 1987, her win was historic.
His powerful acceptance speech also helped drive home the significance of his win. After taking the stage to receive the award, Ralph began by singing “Endangered Species” by Dianne Reeves, which features the lyrics “I’m an endangered species. But I don’t sing no victim songs. I’m a woman. , I’m an artist. And I know where my voice belongs.” She said: “To anyone who ever, ever had a dream and thought your dream wasn’t, wouldn’t come true, couldn’t come true, I’m here to tell you that’s what looks like belief. effort looks like.”
Since his victory, Ralph has also received flowers and recognition from several major stars and personalities. On September 15, she shared that she received a bouquet from Oprah Winfrey. The arrangement was so huge, she told The Hollywood Reporter, that “they had to open the double doors and get a trolley.” She also received a phone call from Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the outlet. “She called and I had to say, ‘We did it Kamala. We did it,'” Ralph said. “It was great. It was wonderful. The governor called [from] Pennsylvania, the mayor called [from] Philadelphia Cream. Everybody is happy. Jamaica is thrilled. It was amazing.”
