Hyundai is currently testing the next-generation Santa Fe on public roads, and it looks very different from the outgoing model based on the prototype captured on video. This prototype was however heavily concealed, so it is difficult to extract detailed parts of its design.
To help our imagination, our friends from Kolesa released an unofficial render based on the prototype we saw before. The renders below attempt to depict the front and rear ends of the next-gen Santa Fe, and we can’t help but notice the huge design change – if this render is true at all.
From the outset, the square shape of the imagined version deviates greatly from the curves of the current model. This was prominent on the spied prototype, as well as the blacked out parts of the roof. Meanwhile, H-headlights aren’t new to Hyundai as the automaker has placed these details on its other cars, like those seen on the taillights of the Stargazer – a minivan sold in Indonesia and the Philippines.
The rear of the Kolesa render appears to have adopted a design detail from the Hyundai Staria. I’m talking about the vertical taillights that extend from the roof to the lower bumper.
Although it’s not visible in the renders, we’ve already gotten a glimpse of the interior of the upcoming Santa Fe. It didn’t reveal much except for the white leather upholstery and fold-down seats. flat on the ground.
Given the heavy prototype cover-ups spotted before, we don’t expect the launch of the next-gen Santa Fe to happen anytime soon. We can, however, infer that the fifth generation model could debut in the second half of next year for the 2024 model year based on the historical timeline.
