Jude Bellingham is ready to tell Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave the club after the World Cup as the race for his signature intensifies.
The England star has been in sensational form in Qatar and used the world stage to show off his ever-improving talent.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are watching the 19-year-old closely and earlier this week Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said the French side were also interested in signing him.
According to German newspaper SPORT BILD, Bellingham want to try their hand elsewhere and will inform their bosses at the Bundesliga side of their desire to leave once their World Cup campaign is over.
The publication even states that Dortmund chiefs have told Real Madrid that Liverpool are in fact the favorites to sign him.
With Bellingham’s contract running until 2025, Dortmund can demand a hefty fee for possession of his prize – if they grant his wish.
The star’s parents, along with adviser Mark Bennett, will handle negotiations with the midfielder’s father who reportedly has a preference for his son to move to Liverpool.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a longtime admirer of Bellingham and is in desperate need of new blood in an aging and injured midfield.
Bellingham have forged a blossoming relationship with Liverpool pair Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson which has further added to the speculation of a switch from Anfield.
But if Liverpool are to land their man, they will need to beat their transfer record of £85million shelled out for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
The same outlet reports that Dortmund will seek a fee in the region of £130million for the talented midfielder.
Liverpool reportedly agree with owners Fenway Sports Group [FSG] provide £85m to Bellingham but will need to find additional funds to fund a deal.
With FSG ‘looking to sell the club’, a new owner could be the catalyst needed to secure Bellingham’s signature against a potential bidding war with financial powerhouses Real Madrid, City and PSG.
Liverpool will be hoping Bellingham’s heroism in Qatar will not cause further inflation with the England star set to star in Saturday’s quarter-final against France – live on talkSPORT.
The former Birmingham City star was one of England’s best performers at the World Cup with one goal and one assist for the Three Lions.
