This man lives in a Lamborghini Urus Overlander

The Lamborghini Urus isn’t a typical off-roader, but its higher ride height and four-door layout make it a good (but expensive) candidate to convert to an overland vehicle. That’s what someone from Colorado did, and the SUV is surprisingly functional like a house on wheels.

It can only accommodate one person, and not everything about the Urus is ideal for living. The frameless windows can’t accommodate bug netting, and Connor found the non-adjustable headrests to be a strange omission compared to the seats’ otherwise robust configurability controls. Dim backup lights also make it difficult to reverse at night, but that’s where accessories and equipment can help.

The Urus features a removable Front Runner roof rack that can hold suitcases, a spare tire and auxiliary lights, and it serves as a mount for Starlink and the awning. The 22-inch Klassik B OffRoad wheels and all-terrain tires increase the agility of the Urus.

Inside, the bed folds down, allowing the seats behind the driver to be used. Connor can fit three or four people inside, and the modularity allows him to quickly empty everything from the Urus as needed for maximum capacity.

The least exciting thing about the Lamborghini is its 641-horsepower, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, which encountered only one major problem during Connor’s year-long journey through 16 countries. An O-ring ruptured on an air intake hose, forcing the Urus to be towed.

He didn’t escape the trip without a few hiccups either. Conor damaged the front splitter (a $1,400 replacement) in Romania, and a button for the interior lights no longer works, but that’s not bad for an off-road luxury SUV.

The missing rear bumper is intentional. Connor plans to replace both bumpers to improve the SUV’s off-road capabilities, which will include installing a new exhaust system for better clearance and skid plates. He also plans to move the stove outside of the vehicle and hopes to rearrange the setup to allow for a roof tent.

A new Lamborghini Urus costs as much as a house in many parts of the country. It’s nice to know that it can also function as one, but a bathroom is not included.
