Canelo Alvarez has six boxing brothers who have achieved varying levels of success in the paid ranks.

The Mexican superstar has held world titles in four different weight classes and is widely considered one of the best boxers of the modern era.

Alvarez and his brothers hold the world record for the most siblings fighting in the same professional boxing event.

Although none of his brothers reached the same heights as the former pound-for-pound king, a few of them managed to make a name for themselves in the sport.

Most notably, Ramon Alvarez (29-8-3), who fought for a “regular” WBA super welterweight belt and shared the ring with former world champions Erislandy Lara and Antonio Margarito.

Rigoberto Alvarez (27-4) has also carved out a decent career for himself, winning an “interim” WBA light middleweight belt by beating Japanese contender Nobuhiro Ishida, as well as fighting for the same “regular” WBA belt against Austin Trout.

Ricardo Alvarez did not face the same level of opposition as Ramon or Rigoberto during his 30-fight stint in the pros (24-3-3), but recorded a victory over the former world champion. WBA bantamweight John Michael Johnson.

However, the American was well beyond his best by then.

From there, CVs experience a sharp decline.

Victor Alvarez (0-2) fought twice as a professional, losing both at distance while Daniel Alvarez (0-1) and Gonzalo Alvarez (0-1) both lost their debuts and did not never beaten again.

Daniel went the distance with fellow debutant Oscar Pena while Gonzalo was knocked out by the lesser-known Joel Gonzalez in the third round.

Their first pro appearances came in June 2008 at Palenque Calle 2 in Zapopan, Mexico, on a card that included all seven Alvarez brothers.

All seven siblings accepted a Guiness World Record for the feat during the Canelo vs. John Ryder press conference last year.

While Daniel, Gonzalo and Victor lost, Rigoberto, Ramon, Ricardo and Canelo raised their hands.

Canelo, who was 17 at the time, was given the toughest test of all: a fight with former long-time IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez, which he won by unanimous decision.

In his next outing, Canelo will face Jaime Munguia on May 4 in Las Vegas for his fourth defense of his undisputed super middleweight crown.

Munguia is one of the most promising contenders in a weight class teeming with talent.

The 27-year-old is a former WBO super welterweight world champion and holds solid wins at 168 pounds over Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Ryder.
