Have you ever left the house with your smartwatch, but forgot your headphones?
Huawei has a solution to this modern crisis: Watch Buds.
As the name suggests, the device is a smartwatch that incorporates headphones.
As seen in the video below, the watch face flips over to reveal a pair of earbuds tucked underneath, with tiny charging contacts also exposed.

At this point, readers might think the demo is so bonkers that it might be fake.
No. Huawei’s account on Chinese Twitter-like site Weibo announced the existence of the device on Wednesday and promised that everything would be revealed on December 2.
But Huawei has since postponed the launch of its winter 2022 consumer kit for unexplained reasons. The registerThe China office believes this is likely a COVID-related complication.

We can, however, report that Huawei has created a new type of case for its Pocket S foldable smartphone, which uses the same makeup container-like form factor as Samsung’s Galaxy Flip.

This is a bag that holds the Pocket S in the closed position and is designed to hang from a belt to which it is attached by a leather strap.
The Weibo post includes a video showing young women enthusiastically wearing the case and using the phone. Your correspondent interprets this as an affirmation that the case is fashionable and desirable.
Unfortunately, there is no indication that the case will come out of China. Visiting the Middle Kingdom to buy either device is also nearly impossible given that China’s COVID-19 control measures include travel restrictions.
However, all is not lost: notebookcheck.com reports that Huawei has applied for a European trademark for “Watch Buds”.
