Apple is expected to finally introduce the Calculator app for iPad which has been missing since the launch of the first generation iPad in 2010. The company is expected to launch the Calculator app for iPad with the iPadOS 18 update. Also, the new Calculator app should be part of Apple’s unified app experience across all of its platforms.

MacRumour reported that the Calculator app will be a “universal” app that will be available across multiple platforms, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. The move aligns with Apple’s approach of providing features consistency and iCloud compatibility between operating systems. Apple is also expected to introduce a new Calculator app for macOS with the next update. Rumor has it that the updated macOS Calculator app will be inspired by the iPad Calculator app.

iPad Calculator app: what is expectedThe iPad Calculator app is expected to share core functionality with the redesigned Calculator app for macOS, codenamed Project GrayParrot. The features are also meant to be shared between the two platforms. For example, a new sidebar to display calculation history, dates and a dedicated toggle button will be added.

Another anticipated feature is “Math Notes,” allowing seamless connectivity between the Notes and Calculator apps via iCloud sync. Users can create math notes on one Apple platform and access them on other devices.

The Calculator app will also receive upgrades to its unit and currency conversion capabilities. Conversions will be integrated into the main interface, displaying the original and converted units simultaneously for easier use. Apple will continue to use up-to-date Yahoo Finance rates for currency conversions.

The revamped macOS Calculator app, alongside the new iPad version, is expected to debut at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10.
