The 2024 Grand National
Poor Corach Rambler. The 2023 champion never had the opportunity to measure himself against the rest of the peloton because he fell at the first obstacle.
The Scottish horse hit the fence hard and knocked down Derek Fox, meaning his race was over within ten seconds of the start.
It’s a shame it ended like this, but he’s still a Grand National winner and no one can take him away.
The 2024 Grand National
Although no horse ever finished, we are happy to report that every jockey and rider escaped injury.
Mac Tottie was taken in for further evaluation, but avoided anything serious.
Mullins reacts to another major victory
It’s been a few years for Willie Mullins and Paul Towned with a Cheltenham Gold winner and now a Grand National champion as well.
The Irish manager has had an incredible year and he spoke to ITV about I Am Maximus’ victory.
He said: “I think Paul was great because the horse wasn’t giving him much help.
“But he always has confidence in his horse, and you could see he was biding his time, and he kept his promises.
“I didn’t say anything until he went over the last fence, but then I let go.
“I’m buzzing, it’s huge and as far as I know our team is back in good condition with no injuries, I’m so happy to have a full complement of horses and riders.”
The 2024 Grand National
I Am Maximus came from nowhere right at the end to win the 2024 Grand National.
Paul Townend managed to get something more out of his horse to deny Rachael Blackmore, and he spoke about the race to ITV.
He said: “What an incredible horse. It’s a bit surreal.
“I started to move backwards because of the large number of horses pushing, so you have to be a little careful.
“But I had a feeling that once he got out, he was going to get into cars, and he did.
“Those in front of me, I had my sights on, and I was hoping he would react the way I thought he would.
“The Grand Nationals are different [to win]and I can’t believe it.”
