Daily Horse Racing Tips

  • SUDWELL – 2:40 p.m.: Circe (1.5pts) 3.10: Smart hero 11/4 (NAPS – 2pts)

Circe

This filly was announced last week at Newbury when she was 17/2 SP under Sean Levey and could well have had a say in the finish if she had had a clear run, but she was refused at several times, which would not have helped his momentum.

I was very happy with her at this price as she was the NB among a few decent winners including Catch Him Derry and Outlaw Peter.

The filly enjoyed a fine campaign as a two-year-old beating Looking For Queen at Doncaster in a Grade 2 maiden before receiving plenty of confidence sent straight into a field of Group 3 fillies at Newmarket.

This race was won by future Group 1 runner and 1000 Guineas favorite Dance Sequence, she was given a workable rating based on this race and should also be up there at the finish in this one, falling to a class 3 disability.

Smart hero

Smart Hero was a really interesting watch at Kempton on April 17th.

The Shamardal colt was a little lit before the start and really keen to get going, but when the race started he pulled away slowly and raced to the green before making huge strides on the outside to catch up hugely ground.

Most read in horse racing

He was 11/1 but just finished a neck second behind SP favorite Sir Les Patterson.

This is another one who should be successful in his second outing this season.

Elmonjed

A decent mark to start the handicap for Elmonjed under Jim Crowley for trainer William Haggas.

He has pulled ahead in his first two starts by nice margins, but the Blue Point gelding is poised to improve considerably and progress even further during his three-year-old campaign.

He won well on his debut at 11/1 and continued to justify his favoritism at Haydock in his next outing in his final appearance in September, proving that his first victory was certainly no fluke.

Haggas is in good form for the weekend and it should be an all too familiar sight of Crowley winning in the Shadwell Estate Company silks.
