Dinamo Sassari picked up the first win of their 2022-23 Basketball Champions League regular season against PAOK, beating the Greek side 82-78.
In his first European game after coming on as a replacement for Chinanu Onuaku, DeShawn Stephens put in an impressive performance, netting a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Eimantas Bendzius was a big contributor to his team’s victory, scoring 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Gerald Robinson added 14 points and 6 assists.
Jalen Riley was the top scorer for Aristeidis Lykogiannis’ team, as he finished the match with 20 points. He has now scored 12 or more points in each of his last five games in the BCL.
The Polley-Hands duo combined for 34 points with 16/17 from the free throw line from the bench.
Sassari won a balanced encounter, with the game on the line until the very last moments of the game.
The home side had better numbers from points in the paint (32 vs 14) and shooting inside the box (54.05% vs 38.46%), while PAOK scored more points on the bench (34 against 22) and shot better from the arc (48% against 30%).
It’s Dinamo’s first win of the season, but Piero Bucchi’s side remain bottom of Group G. PAOK have the same 1-3 record, but are still superior to the Italian side due to the points differential .
