In partnership with this weekend’s inaugural LA3C developed by Deadline’s parent company, PMC, Deadline’s signature Contenders event will take place in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, December 10 for a live/virtual edition and one last Contenders movie opportunity before voting for the Oscar nomination begins. With films that hadn’t previously been featured in our previous releases in Los Angeles and New York this fall, A Man Called Otto, The Woman King, The Banshees of Inisherin, Emancipation, and pale blue eye will be front and center for voters and the public with newly produced tours featuring Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Elvis, and Top Gun: Maverick all with talent appearing live at our venue, the JW Marriott at LA Live. Deadline Contenders filmmakers will also be back Until, thirteen lives, and Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro.
Talents scheduled to participate onsite or virtually include Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Baz Luhrmann, Ryan Coogler, Antoine Fuqua, Guillermo del Toro, Kerry Condon, Eddie Redmayne, Tobias Lindholm, Scott Cooper, Viola Davis, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Thuso Mbedo, Cathy Schulman, Ron Howard, Joel Edgerton, Chinoye Chukwu, Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski.
The day will begin with a special brunch at 10 a.m. followed by various panels led by the editorial staff of Deadline. The sponsor is Village Roadshow Entertainment Group.
Following Deadline’s participation, those interested will have more opportunities to explore the LA3C Festival at LA State Historic Park in downtown LA The event that represents Los Angeles. Capital of Culture and Creativity will offer a mix of music, art, food and live experiences, many of which will be produced by PMC’s various media brands. Musical artists scheduled to appear at LA3C include Lil Baby and Maluma, Snoop Dogg, Seventeen, Free Nationals and Shawn Wasabi during the two-day event Saturday and Sunday.
