Damon Albarn plans to collaborate with Billie Eilish on new music.
The Blur and Gorillaz legend – who has great mutual respect for the ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker – joined Billie at her Coachella headline earlier this year as they teamed up on ‘Feel Good Inc’ and ‘Happier Than Ever”.
When asked if they could team up in the studio, he told Apple Music 1, “Yeah, that’ll be fine. Yeah, I think we’re still trying to do that. It’s just a matter of ‘schedule.”
Given their varied musical influences, Damon admitted he had no idea how a potential duo would sound.
He added: “Who knows? [It] could be some kind of talkative folk or dark satanic metal.
Introducing Damon onstage at Coachella in April, Billie hailed him as “a genius” and someone who “changed [her] life”, as well as his vision of music.
She told the crowd, “This man changed my life in so many ways and completely changed my view of what music could be, what art could be, and what creation could be.
“My first favorite band was The Good, The Bad and the Queen when I was six and Blur changed the world and Gorillaz changed the world, and this man is literally a genius, and that’s it.”
Prior to the live collaboration, Damon had praised Billie and her brother Finneas – who she works with on her songs – and described them as “a really interesting songwriter[s]”.
He referred to her “minor and weird” sound, noting, “I think she’s outstanding.”
Now Damon has reiterated his love for his work.
He added, “Oh, she’s wonderful. I love her. I only really became aware of her through her music.”
