Cristiano Ronaldo sent a defiant message, saying the Portuguese team were “too united to be broken apart by outside forces”.
It comes after his dedication to the national team was called into question after a hectic few days on World Cup duty.
The 37-year-old appeared angry after being substituted in Portugal’s group stage clash with South Korea, which led to him being dropped for their final round of 16 clash with the Swiss.
Reports then suggested that Ronaldo threatened to quit Portugal’s World Cup setup, which the national team denied.
Following this statement, Ronaldo shared a message of unity on social media.
Speaking to Instagram, Ronaldo wrote: “A group too united to be broken apart by outside forces.
“A nation too brave to be intimidated by any adversary.
“A team in the truest sense of the term, which will fight for the dream until the end!
“Take a leap of faith with us! Come on, Portugal!
