Developers with Apple Vision Pro can now try the third developer version of visionOS 1.2.
The third version of visionOS 1.2 surfaces after the second, arriving on April 16. The first appeared on April 2.
The new version has build number 21O5570d, replacing the second beta version, build number 21O5565d.
The release notes for the second version mentioned that changes were made to resolve an issue with FaceTime calls not syncing and notifications being interrupted for some apps.
The latest major release, visionOS 1.1, introduced things like support for mobile device management, ignition key verification, and passcode changes. Changes have been made to StoreKit and Swift UI, Persona generation has been updated, and improvements have been made to EyeSight graphics, among other changes.
Users need a registered Apple developer account to access the visionOS beta, but this may be a free account rather than a paid version. Installation on the Apple Vision Pro hardware itself is relatively simple once you acquire the account.
How to install visionOS beta on Apple Vision Pro
- Open Settings
- Select General.
- Enable Beta updates
- Select VisionOS Developer Beta.
Developers can also use the updated visionOS beta in Xcode, in its visionOS simulator.
Please note that there is currently no process for moving from a beta version of visionOS to a final version unless you have a developer bracelet. As such, AppleInsider does not recommend using the visionOS beta for non-developers at this time.
