AJ Brown won’t let speculation run wild over whether Nick Sirianni has lost the Philadelphia Eagles locker room. Brown defended his head coach while also quelling any reported feuds he had with the coaching staff.
“There might be some things that Nick would probably want to sort out about himself. Loyalty is not one of them,” Brown said, via SportsRadioWIP. “He takes (the blame) for us when it has nothing to do with him. He gets blamed, but it’s part of his job. Sometimes Jalen (Hurts) does the same thing. So does Brian (the coordinator Eagles offensive lineman Brian Johnson), he sometimes gets the wrong end of the stick — when it’s us.
“The coaches haven’t played any games this year. It’s not the coaches. It’s us.”
Sirianni has been largely blamed for the Eagles losing four of their last five games. That’s par for the course for a city like Philadelphia, especially when the Eagles demoted a coordinator midway through this period. Brown pointed out a final interception by Jalen Hurts against the Seattle Seahawks in the final seconds of the game, where Brown admitted the players had improvised – but Sirianni took the ball for them saying he was trying to get a flag on this game.
“He really came out and made himself look like a fool in our eyes,” Brown said. “I have nothing but respect for him. Not every coach does that. We roll with Nick. We roll with Brian (Johnson).”
Brown believes the Eagles are poised to turn things around, knowing the NFC East is still here and a deep playoff run is still possible. He’s not giving up on the season, feeling the Eagles are close to getting it right.
“Honestly, I feel like we’re poised to continue to get better and take the next step,” Brown said. “All this fucking adversity, we’re here. This is what happens when you try to take the next step. Gravity is pulling against you, everything is pulling against you. That’s what this team is going through right now. moment. Once we fought, we thought, just get through this, you’ll be fine.
“We’ll be exactly where we need to be. We have great people in this locker room. We have good people.”
