So far this season, Jennifer Lawrence has subtly added new trends to her tried-and-true outfit formulas. Cozy, chic sweaters, baggy sweatpants, and buttery yellow knits (this year’s rising color trend for a reason) have all been part of her low-key rich mom agenda. Once again, the actress went back to basics this weekend, keeping a low-key but stylish profile during her time in New York.
On Sunday, April 28, Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, took a stroll around Manhattan. Her outfit for the day started with a chunky black knit sweater. While the exact credits aren’t out yet, it wouldn’t be a surprise if she took it from Mary-Kate and Ashley’s brand, The Row — Lawrence wears it constantly. She tucked the slightly oversized top into gray straight jeans, cinched at the waist with a black and silver belt from Céline.

THE No strong emotions added the ultimate comfortable accessories to her look: a pair of black Vans sneakers, black oval sunglasses and, inspired by Princess Diana’s fashion rules, a red Polo Ralph Lauren cap.

Lawrence’s understated attire has always been indicative of both his personal style and his “cool, calm and collected” aura. But her reliance on simple outfit formulas might be part of her recent uniform update as a relatively new mother. Similar to Katie Holmes, Lawrence is indeed a “New York mom,” but she almost always opts for casual pants, understated flats, and cozy sweaters.
That’s not to say Lawrence doesn’t have fun with his clothes. A few weeks ago, the actress played with a handful of trends, like Spring 2024’s hottest colorway, buttery yellow. She layered a cream yellow top as part of the “sandwich shirt” style trick with a button-down cardigan. She also revamped another casual outfit, swapping her jeans for track pants.
