Sony unveils portable cooling device to beat the heat – News18

As temperatures rise this summer, combating the heatwave has become a top priority for many. As air conditioners (AC) have become a necessity, many fear skyrocketing bills. To recognize the problem, Sony stepped in with an innovative solution. The company recently introduced the Reon Pocket 5, a wearable device designed to beat the heat and provide comfort on the go. This compact device, which fits neatly into the back of a shirt or t-shirt, offers adjustable cooling levels to keep users feeling refreshed even in the hottest weather. The device can also be used during the winter, making it a year-round companion. It features advanced technology, including five cooling levels and four warming levels. In addition, thanks to its remote sensor called Reon Pocket tag, it intelligently adjusts the parameters depending on the temperature.

The upcoming fifth generation model of remote air conditioner will soon be launched in several countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. According to Tech Radar, the technology is not new, as the first device was launched in Japan in 2019. The 4th version was sold out within three months and a similar response was also seen in Hong Kong. Interestingly, the Reon Pocket 5 will be the first device sold outside of Asian countries.

In the press release, Sony said: “The REON POCKET 5 features an enlarged thermal module and a newly structured heat dissipation fan that provides improved cooling efficiency and airflow, which translates into cooling performance up to 1.5 times higher than that of the conventional model. Featuring 5 COOL levels, the device delivers powerful cooling and runs up to 1.8 times longer, lasting approximately 7.5 hours at COOL level 4. Additionally, the latest device operates quietly reducing operating noise , making it convenient to use even in a quiet environment. environments.”

“To enhance the cooling function of the REON POCKET 5, the REON POCKET TAG is equipped with the latest software that detects direct sunlight, allowing the RNPK-5T to quickly adapt to preset temperatures, 33% faster than previous versions of the software. . Featuring 8 sensors, the REON POCKET 5 and REON POCKET TAG provide the most precise temperature control and can be used for up to 10 hours,” the company added.

The device is currently available for pre-order at £139 (approximately Rs 14,000), with the option to add a beige-colored neckband for an additional £25 (approximately Rs 2,616). Shipping is expected to begin on May 15, and each package includes the device, a Pocket Tag, and a white lanyard.
