Marvel Revealed Marvel Comics’ Real White Wolf (Again) In Captain America: Symbol of Truth #1 – The White Wolf Arrived.
Almost every Marvel fan loses track of which character is which as some of them get retconned or entirely redefined. On top of that, Marvel Studios often combines many characters into one live action figure.
Nevertheless, Bucky Barnes is not the real White Wolf; Hunter, the adoptive brother of T’Challa/Black Panther, holds this coat:
Adopted brother of King T’Challa of Wakanda and head of Wakanda’s secret police, the Hatut Zeraze, Hunter, is an expert tracker and nicknamed the White Wolf.
Adopted as an infant and named by his adoptive father T’Chaka, Hunter learns everything from him, such as how to be a hunter and warrior of Wakanda. When his adoptive mother N’Yami dies in childbirth, giving birth to T’Challa, he immediately resents his new brother. Hunter resents him even more for ascending the throne, a right he thought was his. He did unspeakable things in the Hatut Zeraze, which led to T’Challa disbanding the group. Afterwards, he fights T’Challa several times, believing himself more worthy of the Black Panther throne and mantle.
Marvel.com continues:
During Hunter’s teenage years, T’Chaka’s wife, N’Yami, died giving birth to their son, T’Challa, who would later become Black Panther. Hunter resents T’Challa for N’Yami’s death and soon realizes that T’Challa was T’Chaka’s favorite and heir apparent. Hunter then befriends T’Chaka’s new wife, Ramonda, a South African who sympathizes with his status as a foreigner.
T’Challa quickly learned of the existence of the Hatut Zeraze and was disgusted by their brutal interrogation methods. When the alien Ulysses Klaw invaded Wakanda to mine the nation’s Vibranium, T’Chaka was killed, promoting T’Challa to kingship. Although a fierce Wakandan patriot, Hunter believed T’Challa unfit to assume his father’s role and began plotting a coup. One of Hunter’s men in the Hatut Zeraze, Derek Khanata, alerted T’Challa, and T’Challa had Hunter imprisoned and disbanded the Hatut Zeraze.
While it’s unclear if Bucky Barnes replaces Hunter in the MCU and ultimately writes the character for all live-action appearances, it’s clear that this final issue of Captain America will have Steve Rogers heavily influenced by this Bucky-like character. Barnes, like Barnes and Hunter are Wakanda’s Caucasian “brothers”, but one (Hunter) ultimately sets out to kill T’Challa.
