Towards the end of last week, Vivo started looking for owners of the Vivo S5 and Vivo NEX series devices to express their interest in trying the Android 10-based Funtouch OS 10 update before the official rollout.
This development came after the company revealed the reason for the delay in deploying the Funtouch OS 10 update on its devices, but it seems that the sad and dark days of the novel COVID-19 are almost over.
In an official roadmap released earlier this month, Vivo revealed that the beta version of Android 10 would be released to the S5 and NEX series in April 2020 and, indeed, the operating system is now available for first users just in time.
If you own the Vivo NEX A and have signed up to try the Funtouch OS 10 beta update, the OTA package arrives as I write this with version 8.9.15 of the software and weighs 3.71 GB .
The Vivo NEX Dual Display variant receives the same update as version 6.8.12 and weighs 3.45 GB.
The Vivo NEX S also receives this same update and although we have confirmed the reports of the real owners of devices who received this OTA package, the same cannot be said of the beta update of Funtouch OS 10 for the Vivo NEX Screen Fingerprint model.
However, we would like to believe that the variant also receives the beta update for Android 10. The Vivo S5 and NEX series now join the Vivo NEX 3 and NEX 3 5G to test the beta version of Funtouch OS 10 before the stable deployment, probably before the end of this next quarter.
