What is Transformers One about?
Although not much is known about the film, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explained what to expect last year. According to di Bonaventura, the project will actually focus on the origins of a young Megatron and a young Optimus Prime, as the two start out as friends before ending up on rival sides of the battlefield.
The reason for covering this in an animated film, he says, is that it was simply “financially impossible” to do it in a live-action format.
Transformers One is directed by Josh Cooley, who previously directed Toy Story 4 in 2019. Cooley also wrote the screenplay for Inside Out in 2015 and has worked as a screenwriter on a number of other Pixar films, including The Incredibles in 2004, Cars in 2006, Ratatouille in 2007, and 2009’s Up.
The screenplay was written by Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian and Aaron Dem are the producers of Transformers One.
Transformers One will be released in US theaters on September 20, 2024.
