As host, she started the evening with a safety harness in Versace Workshop, and went on to wear other looks from the house, as well as pieces from Prada, The Blonds and Bcalla. What excites VMA viewers today is the nudity of it all: One of Cyrus’ breasts actually made it on air, after all. But perhaps the real conversation – at least in the fashion world – should be about what style of clothing the pop singer and phenom wore.
Not only did Cyrus seduce high fashion brands into making playful outfits to her specifications, but she also sported two Courrèges pieces, both presented by André Courreges at its peak in the middle of the century. She accessorized a bubble-covered plastic dress with Courrèges sunglasses and added an orange Courrèges visor to a two-piece outfit designed to resemble eyes and lips. Celebrity fashion archives aren’t very new, but Cyrus and her stylist’s decision, Simone Harouche, turning to Courrèges could not be more timely. The house is about to experience a renaissance thanks to Arnaud Vaillant And Sébastien Meyerthe young duo behind the LVMH Prize, nominated Coperni Woman. Does this mean she will make an appearance at their first Spring 2016 presentation in Paris? We never know.
