Tom Aspinall’s next outing will take place on the UFC’s pay-per-view card in Manchester this summer.
The UFC was rumored to be planning a Fight Night event in Manchester in July, but company president Dana White recently revealed it had been turned into a numbered show.
“I have an English heavyweight champion and a lot of other European stars, but two champions now outside England,” he said, referring to interim heavyweight champion Aspinall and the undisputed king of welterweight Leon Edwards.
“We are going to England, we are arriving!” I have some big fights planned for the UK fans and I’m excited to get back there.
“Literally in days [we’ll make an announcement]we’re working on this stuff.
“We have crazy plans for England: numbered card, pay-per-view, a great one.”
Aspinall has declared his intention to defend his belt as the UFC moves forward with Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic for the full world title.
The Wigan puncher has been delayed from this fight in recent months but has now confirmed he finally has a fight on the horizon.
In a video uploaded to his social media on Wednesday, Aspinall said: “Well, I just got back from Vegas, I was there doing some YouTube stuff, meetings and stuff.
“I had a meeting with the UFC. It’s now been confirmed that I’m fighting at UFC Manchester, so I’m back home preparing for that now.
“We’re still in the early stages of training camp, I’m just waiting for my opponent to agree. So stay tuned. Keep up the social activities.
“Continue your YouTube channel and I will announce it very soon.”
Aspinall has been out of action since winning the interim title against Sergei Pavlovich in November last year.
The 31-year-old has looked virtually unstoppable since signing with MMA’s premier promotion in 2020.
Aspinall is 8-1 under the UFC banner, with his only loss coming due to a freak knee injury against Curtis Blaydes in July 2022.
