Arsenal are preparing for “the tastiest North London derby in years”, according to Andros Townsend.
The Gunners enter the clash with Tottenham at the top of the table after a stunning start to the season.
As Spurs enter the clash following a 6-2 win over Leicester, former Tottenham winger Townsend believes it could be memorable.
Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast, Townsend said: “I think both are in great positions.
“If you ask both sets of fans, it’s probably the first time in a long time that both sides have been positive and both sets of fans have nothing but positive things to say about their club, their manager and their players.
“I think this is probably one of the tastiest North London derbies we’ve seen in many years and hopefully the game lives up to expectations.”
When it comes to Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has big decisions to make.
Part of the Gunners’ success is down to a defense that has conceded just seven goals in seven appearances so far this season.
Aaron Ramsdale has been a key part of that success at the back with the England keeper set to continue keeping Matt Turner out of the squad.
Arsenal’s defensive line has been a great success with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes forming one of the most effective partnerships in the league.
While that forced Ben White out of his natural position, the 24-year-old found a home at right-back.
Kieran Tierney had started to find his feet after a troubling injury but was taken to Scotland as a precaution following a blow to the head.
The hope for Arsenal fans will be that he is fit to take his place at left-back.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is another option with Football London reporting he will likely be fit to return against Tottenham.
He could slot in at left-back, but with Thomas Partey out injured while on international duty with Ghana, chances are the Ukrainian will be asked to fill in as a substitute in the middle of the park alongside Granit Xhaka in shape.
Martin Odegaard was absent in the 3-0 win over Brentford and was replaced by Fabio Vieira, who certainly seized the opportunity with a sublime goal.
However, with Arsenal skipper Odegaard set to come back from his knock, it means Vieira could fall back to the bench.
When it comes to the Gunners attacking trio, the positions almost choose themselves.
Gabriel Martinelli has had a great start to the season with three goals in seven appearances so far, but after missing out on a place in the Brazil squad during the international break, the 21-year-old is expected to be fit and firing against Tottenham.
Bukayo Saka has received an international call with England but is certain to start.
Eddie Nketiah will no doubt be hoping for the chance to impress upfront but given Gabriel Jesus’ form, it’s hard to see that happening anytime soon.
Four goals and three assists in eight appearances so far this season make the striker one of the Premier League’s most in-form stars and it cements his place in the starting line-up for what will be his first derby from North London in Arsenal Red. .
