Antony goaded Coventry players into listening after Manchester United overtook them in the FA Cup.
Man United faced the Championship side at Wembley Stadium but worked extra hard in their clash with the second tier side as they needed penalties to book their place in the final.
Despite leading 3-0 and in complete control of the match, Coventry scored three times in 24 minutes to level the match at 3-3 and send it to overtime.
Both teams shook the woods during the 30 minutes of extra play, while the Sky The Blues were denied a dramatic last-gasp winner, with Victor Torp’s effort ruled out for offside.
For a team expected to challenge for the top four, Man United needed to make work of last season’s play-off finalists easy, but they had to settle for victory via penalties.
With Rasmus Hojlund Stepping forward to score the winning spot-kick, Antony turned towards the Coventry players on the halfway line and covered his ears to rejoice in victory.
In truth, the Brazilian should have breathed a sigh of relief after what would have been a major Cup upset – something that Harry Maguire » said as he approached to shake the hands of his opponents in an elegant gesture.
Of their post-match celebrations, Roy Keane told ITV: “From the United players and the fans, they didn’t really go overboard with the celebrations because they know they had very lucky today.
“They won the game 3-0 and they were almost embarrassed to win in the end, but look, they are in the cup final and got the job done.
“Every time I see this United team I don’t like what I see.
“They are hard to like and just play at times and after the game they talk about leadership and character – I don’t see any of that in this group.
“Team management when you’re up 3-0 – you don’t give a championship team any hope of being able to get back in the game, but that’s what they do.
“They’re giving up chances, they’re giving up goals and they’ve been doing it all season so I don’t know why we’re so surprised but my goodness, they had their chance at the end.”
Erik ten Hag’s side took control of the cup with goals from Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire putting them 2-0 up at half-time before Bruno Fernandes extended their lead in the 58th minute.
But the Championship side came back strongly with Ellis Sims pulling a goal back in the 71st minute before Callum O’Hare’s strike, which deflected off Aaron Wan-Bissaka and curled into the net in the 79th minute.
And in stoppage time, it was Wan-Bissaka who was at the center of things as he was adjudged to have handled the ball in the Man United box, with Haji Wright scoring the resulting penalty.
Fernandes hit the crossbar in the first half of extra time while Sims also hit the bar with Andre Onana beaten, it all ended in the second half of extra time.
It looked like Mark Robins’ men had won it in the final seconds of extra time thanks to Torp, however, the goal was ruled out due to a very marginal offside against Wright, who provided the assist to Torp.
Man United ended up winning 4-2 on penalties, with O’Hare and Ben Sheaf failing to convert their spot kicks.
The Red Devils will face local rivals Manchester City in the final on May 25 in what will be a rematch of last season’s showpiece.
