Spice Girls star Mel B signs ‘six-figure deal to appear in Holly Willoughby’s new Netflix show Bear Hunt and has already flown to Costa Rica to film’

Mel B has reportedly signed on for new Netflix series Bear Hunt which will star Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls.

The Spice Girl, 48, is said to have accepted a six-figure sum to appear on the grueling endurance show, which will see stars forced to rely on their survival skills to escape master adventurer Bear.

According to The Sun, Mel flew to Costa Rica this weekend to join the A-list of celebrities as filming begins on the reality series, which is set to premiere next year.

Mel apparently told her friends she signed up to the show to fund her wedding to boyfriend Rory McPhee, 36, which will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Mel, who announced her engagement to Rory in November 2022, revealed she was planning to get married at the iconic cathedral because she is an MBE.

Mel B has reportedly signed on to new Netflix series Bear Hunt which will star Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls.

She explained: “As I have an MBE, I am allowed to get married in St Paul’s. They only do a small number of weddings per year, so we are on the waiting list.

Mel said the Spice Girls were invited, but added: “However, they won’t be bridesmaids, we’re all too old.”

The singer’s TV appearance will no doubt upset her Spice Girls bandmates, who may fear she will drop more bombs on their group.

The Spice Girls recently reunited at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations at Oswald’s private club in London last weekend.

Mel reportedly had a “frosty” reunion with Geri Horner at the party, as it was claimed they had an intense exchange before keeping their distance, after Mel claimed in a recent interview that Geri had lied about her age.

A few days after the party, Mel appeared to address speculation about his exchange with Geri on Instagram.

Mel appeared to have extended an olive branch, as she shared a group photo with her Spice Girls bandmates on Instagram.

She wrote: “What an amazing girl power weekend with all my girls, I have so much love and respect for you ALL #friendshipneverends.”

Mel and Geri were reunited for the luxurious party hosted at Oswald’s in London and posed together for a group photo with fellow band members Emma Bunton, Victoria and Mel C – despite being at opposite ends of the line.

But The Sun claimed Geri, 51, and Mel B, 48, were feeling tense, after Mel claimed Ginger Spice was not 51.

Despite traveling the world together during their band days, Scary Spice claimed that Geri always keeps her passport close to her chest, so she “still doesn’t know” how old she is.

And after the interview, the pair reportedly kept their distance from each other at Victoria Day this weekend – before Mel B apparently tried to offer an olive branch.

A source told the publication: “Mel tried to smooth things over with Geri at the party but it didn’t go as planned. She was laughing about it all, but Geri didn’t seem interested in hearing what she had to say and walked away.

“When it came to taking their group photo, Geri stood as far away from Mel as possible, which was awkward to watch.

“Geri wanted to be there to celebrate and have a good laugh with everyone, not to talk to Mel about the embarrassing things she said about him.”

After the party, Mel appeared to have extended an olive branch, as she shared a group photo with her Spice Girls bandmates on Instagram.

Reps for Mel B and Geri have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Bear Hunt, which reportedly stars Mel, will see a group of celebrities taught a series of survival skills with seasoned adventurer Bear Grylls.

Bear will then chase the stars through the jungle in an attempt to catch them before they can get to the end of the show and win.

Other stars expected to appear include retired rugby professional Danny Cipriani.

Netflix said of the series: “Bear believes there’s an action hero in all of us – even celebrities – but how strong is their will to survive?

“As Bear puts them to the test, those who fail to impress will face the dreaded ‘Bear Hunt’ – a brutal game of cat and mouse where they will be hunted down and, if captured, eliminated from the Serie.”
