Fans were surprised that many songs on the album seemed to be aimed at Swift’s ex Matty Healy, who she briefly dated last year, instead of Joe Alwyn, her boyfriend of six years, who she would have separated around April 2023. .
Patti Smith responded after being fact-checked on the title track, writing: “It means I was moved to be mentioned in the company of the great Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Thanks Taylor.

Fans Check out Swift’s Lyrics to ‘But Daddy I Love Him’
Fans quickly came to a consensus that Swift’s new song “But Daddy I Love Him” is a fierce rebuke to critics of her short-lived romance with Matty Healy.
She sings: “I’d rather burn my whole life/ Than listen to one more second of all this bitching and whining/ I’ll tell you something about my reputation/ It’s mine with all the shame/ I Don’t worry about all these vipers dressed as empaths.
Then on the bridge: “God save the most critical idiots / Who say they want what’s best for me / Performing with morality soliloquies that I will never see / Thinking that this can change the beat of my heart when he touches me / And thwart chemistry / And undo destiny / You don’t need to pray for me / Me and my wild boy / And all this wild joy / If all you want is gray for me /It’s just white noise/It’s just my choice.
