Ultra-talented Canadian winger Efeosa Oliogu, who received a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball in late August during Orange’s annual elite camp, continues to make big climbs in the rankings of his class.
The 6-foot-6 Oliogu, a hugely athletic guard/wing in the 2025 cycle, recently recorded four stars, No. 6 overall and No. 3 in small forward, according to new ratings from scouting service On3.
He is a sophomore at United Scholastic Academy in Toronto, and on the AAU circuit, Oliogu races with Toronto-based Canada Elite in the Under Armor Association league.
Not all major recruiting services include Oliogu in their 2025 rankings, as some of these recruiting websites do not assess prospects outside of the United States.
Either way, from what I’ve read about Oliogu from analysts and recruiting scouts, he’s a strong contender for the #1 overall ranking in the 2025 cycle.
Syracuse basketball got involved early on with four-star Efeosa Oliogu.
Some of Oliogu’s latest offerings come from Alabama and the state of Mississippi. Its offer sheet also includes Seton Hall, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Rutgers, Stonehill College, Long Island, North Carolina A&T, Providence, Washington State, Oregon, TCU, DePaul and Siena.
When The Circuit released its 2025 rankings not too long ago, Oliogu was four stars and No. 18 overall.
Recruiting service 247Sports recently released its first 2025 national ranking, and 247Sports placed Oliogu as a four-star, No. 40 overall and No. 11 in small forward.
Respectfully, I think this #40 rating is too low, but Oliogu will have plenty of time to bolster this particular ranking.
As of this writing, the industry-generated On3 consensus has Oliogu as four stars, No. 33 overall and No. 6 in small forward.
Not only will this youngster likely compete for the top spot in the 2025 cycle, but he’s also in the conversation as the top high school prospect across Canada, regardless of class designation, according to some high school hoop experts.
I’m heartened that Syracuse basketball coaches have tangled with Efeosa Oliogu. That being said, I guess Blue Bloods and college basketball heavyweight recruiting will chase him at some point.
College coaches cannot initiate direct communication with 2025 prospects until June 15 next year. Oliogu should see other offers arriving by then, but after the opening of the contact period for this class, his recruitment should totally explode.
