Tottenham’s £1 billion stadium has been turned into an NFL arena for the Minnesota Vikings vs New Orleans Saints game on Sunday.
Images have been released showing Spurs’ stadium transformation for the change of sport this weekend – and it’s mesmerizing.
The Premier League club boasts the only purpose-built NFL venue outside the United States with its state-of-the-art retractable pitch one of the key features.
The incredible designs see the real grass pitch divided into three sections before rolling into a storage area under the South Stand.
This reveals the artificial surface below with the sidelines lowered to the same level.
The goal posts are then added after being raised and the remaining American football grass is added, along with the finer details.
Finally, the lines are all painted accordingly, with the center circle displaying the NFL logo.
The Union Jack of the United Kingdom and the American flag are then added to the roof.
The NFL has released the epic time-lapse video of its operation ahead of American football’s return to the arena this weekend.
The stadium – opened in 2019 – was built to host multiple events and with the NFL firmly in mind.
It has dedicated locker rooms for players, officials and cheerleaders as well as its own broadcast, media and medical facilities.
The NFL’s first game at the stadium was in October 2019 when the Chicago Bears played the Oakland Raiders.
This year sees two games played at Tottenham.
The Minnesota Vikings will face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in the capital.
Next, the New York Giants take on the Green Bay Packers, with the venue being used twice in two weeks.
The NFL will play a total of three games in London during the 2022 campaign as it aims to continue to raise the profile of the sport in England.
The final matchup will be Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, but that game will be played at Wembley and is scheduled for October 30.
