A new joint venture by Sony and Honda could see the pair release electric cars with built-in PS5 hardware.
Executives at Sony Honda Mobility, which was set up in September, told the Financial Times they plan to use music, movies and games to build electric cars designed around a premium entertainment experience .
“Sony delivers entertainment content, services and technologies that move people. We are adapting these strengths to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla,” said Chairman Izumi Kawanishi.

“Tesla does not provide any content services,” he said, adding that it was “technologically possible” to integrate the PS5 platform into their cars.
Sony Honda Mobility aims to launch its first electric vehicle model in North America by 2025. Eventually, the joint venture also hopes to launch fully autonomous vehicles.
“To take advantage of the space in your car, you have to make it a space where you don’t have to drive,” Kawanishi said. “The solution for this is autonomous driving.”
