Rihanna admits dressing up in public again gives her opportunity to rediscover herself after motherhood
Rihanna recently admitted that returning to fashion gave her the opportunity to “rediscover” herself.
Talk to BBritish Columbia News during the evening of her collaboration with Puma in London earlier this week, the Umbrella The hit singer revealed that fashion became the least important thing after embracing motherhood.
Rihanna, who shares two young sons with A$AP Rocky, said: “From the first pregnancy, I felt like I could have worn heels the whole time.”
“But then, in the second pregnancy, you have a toddler, a belly, it’s winter, you have a coat, a baby bag. Do you like heels? Hmm, maybe not,” the singer recalls.
Rihanna said: “That’s why I got a little more creative with my comfortable style.”
“I felt too comfortable after having my second child and I just wore dresses and pajamas and sweats. And now I’m playing again. Now I’m having fun with my clothes,” explained the a singer.
Rihanna noted that returning to the spotlight and dressing up in public led her to rediscover her personality.
The singer mentioned that she was able to “mentally give myself that space to tackle my wardrobe and create stuff.”
“After a while, when you have children, you think [fashion] it’s the stupidest thing… it’s really the least important thing,” the singer emphasized.
Rihanna noted, “It does something for you as a woman, and as a mom, it’s important to us.”
Explaining why she decided to buy maternity clothes, Rihanna told the outlet: “I approached it like everything I approach in fashion. I just want to do things my way. I always want them sew and put my own touch on it.
However, the singer added: “I just refused to buy maternity clothes, truly and truly. I told myself that what would suit me was what would work. And that made me challenge myself to be smart with style.”
