Real Madrid have decided which Manchester City player they want to sign this summer after knocking them out of the Champions League.
Los Blancos beat City on penalties after two thrilling matches which saw their quarter-final finish 4-4 on aggregate.
It deprives Guardiola’s men of back-to-back European titles and the potential of two consecutive trebles as they remain on course to win the Premier League and FA Cup.
Widely considered the two best teams in Europe currently, the competition was always going to be close and 14-time winners Madrid were the ones to narrowly prevail.
The Spanish giants have since been linked with several of City’s biggest stars, and according to a recent report from the Daily Star, they have moved to the front of the queue for playmaker Bernardo Silva.
The Portugal international has reportedly attracted considerable interest from Europe’s top clubs due to the £50million release clause in his contract.
Alongside Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germian and Arsenal are all monitoring the situation.
However, the report states that his preferred choice if he were to leave would be Spain.
The 29-year-old is a familiar face to Carlo Ancelotti and Madrid, having faced the club in each of the last three years.

His performances appear to have attracted attention even though he disastrously missed a penalty in the quarter-final penalty shootout.
Silva has been an integral part of City’s success under Guardiola and it would be a huge loss if he leaves.
He moved to Manchester in 2017 after winning the French league title with Monaco, a team he also helped reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
At the time, the playmaker admitted he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to play under Guardiola.
It’s paying off since he’s won every trophy possible since his arrival. So maybe it’s a good time to take on a new challenge.
