RANGERS secured a tasty payday bonus for reaching the Champions League play-offs.
Last night, the Light Blues beat Union Saint-Gilloise 3-0 to advance to the next qualifying round 3-2 on aggregate.
Celebrations inside the stadium were wild after the dramatic turnaround.
But the game wasn’t the only reason Rangers were celebrating.
UEFA pays the equivalent of £4.22m to teams that reach the play-off round but fail to qualify for the group stages of Europe’s elite competition.
Teams that progress from the play-offs, of course, rake in £40m.

So while there is a huge chasm in the amounts, if Rangers lose in the next round and fall in the Europa League, they will at least have something to soften the blow.
Point 1.1 of a UEFA circular sent to clubs in July states: “A total of €30 million will be paid to clubs involved in the UCL play-offs: eliminated clubs will each receive a fixed payment of €5 millions of euros.
“The winners of the play-offs will not receive any specific payments for this round as they will receive payments for their participation in the UCL group stage.”
Rangers face PSV at Ibrox next week in the first leg of their play-off, before traveling for the second leg two weeks later.
The Dutch side is well known to Giovanni van Bronckhorst who previously managed Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
