Colorado State University men’s basketball coach Niko Medved announced Thursday the signing of 6-foot-4 guard Joe Palmer for the 2022-23 season.
Palmer will have two years of eligibility, including his COVID year, after playing three seasons at the University of Augsburg.
Faribault’s eldest, Minn. is coming off a great junior season at Augsburg where he started all 21 games for the Auggies and averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game. He also had 54 assists, 31 steals and eight blocks.
Additionally, he finished the season with 11 double-doubles and scored 20 or more points in 14 games, including four games with 30+ points.
Palmer was named to the NABC Division III All-America Second Team, NABC All-District 9 First Team, and D3Hoops.com All-Region Teams. He also earned the Joe Hutton Men’s Basketball Player of the Year award from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, as well as MIAC First Team honors.
During the 2020-21 season which was cut short due to COVID, he averaged a team-high 18.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
While at Faribault High School, Palmer competed in football, basketball, and baseball. He had a career-high 57 points in one game and was the winner in all areas in all three sports, including basketball player of the year honors.
