David Thrash, Principal of Bossier High School:
Bossier High coach Nick Bohanan is stepping down from his head basketball position and will be accepting a position at BIPSTIL as a HVAC instructor, so we will identify his role in our program as we move forward.
He and I had several conversations over the past 4 months and then this position opened up. When Coach Bo came back from his summer vacation he told me his intentions and I support him and his goal of being able to see and coach his two children while playing a lesser role in our program.
Assistant Coach Justin Collins will serve as he has all summer as interim coach and take care of day-to-day activities on campus so that we can make a smooth transition.
Coach Bo has been very successful
2017/18 (2nd round loss) 27 – 7 on aggregate (district 13-1)
2018/19 (State Runner-up) 32 – 4 overall (14 – 0 district)
2019/20 (State Champs) 35 – 3 overall (8 – 0 district)
2020/21 (quarter-final loss) 18 – 11 on aggregate (district 6 – 0)
2021/22 (semi-final loss) 27 – 8 on aggregate (8 – 0 district)
Total weight: 139 – 33
District w/l: 49 – 1
5 regional championships
AVERAGE 27 wins per year for 5 years.
Statement from Coach Bo
It has been a blessing to coach the Bossier Bearkat family for the past 13 years, the last 5 being the head coach of your beloved basketball program. I will always be grateful for the opportunity Mr. Thrash gave me to entrust the burgeoning basketball program. I had the good fortune to coach some extremely talented players who went through the program and made the program what it is today. I will play a lesser role in the future.
Statement by Mr. Thrash
We have a strong coaching staff who have had the team all summer, so coaches and players knew what could happen. We will trust the next man mentality as we always have and ensure that our program is in safe hands. After winning the league championship with freshman and JV teams and returning sold starters in Tahj Roots, Javon Johnson, LaKavin Thomas and a host of young talent Demarquis Trammel, Quin Scott, Kerel Woods, Cam Davenport, Sentavion Ball , Keyshawn Johnson, Keyshawn Daniels, Javonte Small, Jakarvious Guice, Mateo Guerrero, so we’re going to build on that.
Assistant coach Justin Collins, Marlin Anderson and Jarory Morris like they did this summer are in place so we’re going to “trust the process”.
I’m more focused on setting up the academic play because Coach Bo has done an outstanding job in the classroom in special education. Department. This makes navigation a little more difficult than normal since we only have one Sped position open. Justin Collins will serve as interim coach until approved by senior central office staff.
