Rory McIlroy drank a beer in front of an endearing crowd while he sang Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” after winning the Zurich Classic.

McIlroy took the stage alongside Shane Lowry after the duo won the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, singing 1980s classics in celebration.

The duo needed a playoff to earn the victory at TPC Louisiana, defeating Chad Ramey and Martin Tramer before celebrating in style with a few beers and in front of a crowd of cheering fans.

As the band began the big hit of 1981’s Journey, McIlroy grabbed the mic and began singing his heart out with Lowry laughing alongside him.

And he even had time between verses to drink a beer, to the delight of the Louisiana crowd.

Footage from the event was shared by the PGA Tour on their social media accounts with fans singing in tribute to the Northern Irishman.

While McIlroy took center stage, it wasn’t a duet as Lowry stood next to him cheering him on.

Eventually, the two continued their celebrations off stage as they left the venue.

But it could have been a different story if Ramey and Trainer had staged a remarkable comeback on the final day of the Zurich Classic.

Both were seven shots out of the lead before shooting a 9-under 63 to return to the clubhouse at 25-under 263.

That forced McIlroy and Lowry into the playoff after hitting a bogey on the 17th hole before bringing it back with a birdie at the 18th.

Hailing from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland respectively, McIlroy and Lowry earned the playoff victory after Trainer missed a par putt.

This secured McIlroy’s 25th PGA Tour victory and Lowry’s third, and his first in the United States since August 2015.

McIloroy said: “It’s absolutely amazing. We’ve had a great week here in New Orleans.

“The crowds have been absolutely incredible, to get the support we’ve had there. We’ve had so much fun doing this and it’s just a bonus to win in the end.

“It couldn’t be better than doing it with this man by my side.”

Beside him, a beaming Lowry said: “It’s great. It was really necessary.

“At the start of the week we felt like we could take a big step forward for the FedEx Cup, let’s get 400 points each and that’s what we did.

“I feel a little bad taking them because Rory carried me, but I’ll take them.”
