Manchester United will ‘take final offer’ for £84m Ajax star Antony as Erik ten Hag eyes winger before transfer window closes

Manchester United are making a final bid to sign Antony from Ajax this summer.

According to Alex Crook, the Red Devils are hoping they can convince the Dutch to sell the player seen as one of Erik ten Hag’s top targets.

The 22-year-old has certainly impressed for Ajax, scoring 24 goals and creating 22 more in 82 first-team appearances.

The Brazilian, who mainly plays on the right flank, is valued at £84million meaning the Glazer family will have to break the bank to secure a deal.

According to Crook, this is something Ten Hag hopes they will do.

Speaking on White and Jordan, the talkSPORT football correspondent said: “He’s an old name in the frame, with Manchester United looking to give Ajax wide forward Antony one last try.

“Obviously they’re asking for a lot of money earlier this summer.

“Like many, he is a player who has walked through the front door that Erik ten Hag knows and he is a big target for the manager.

“We’ll see if the Glazers are willing to foot the bill for this one.”

Elsewhere, talkSPORT understands United are considering signing Asmir Begovic.

The Everton keeper is a target as the Red Devils seek an experienced understudy for David De Gea.

The 35-year-old has extensive Premier League experience having played 255 games for Portsmouth, Stoke, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Everton.
