Johnny Depp reunited with filmmaker Terry Gilliam at the UK premiere of his first feature film since the conclusion of his libel trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Johnny Depp was spotted at the UK premiere of his latest film, Jeanne Du Barry, alongside director Terry Gilliam. This is Depp’s first major film role since the conclusion of his high-profile defamation case against ex-partner Amber Heard.
The historical drama, in which Depp plays King Louis French actress Maiwenn, who uses her wit and charm to climb the social ladder, eventually attracting the attention of King Louis XV.
Depp’s involvement in the project is his first significant on-screen appearance following his controversial legal battle with Heard. The actor sued his former partner over a 2018 article she wrote for the Washington Post detailing her experiences as a survivor of domestic violence. Depp’s legal team argued that the article falsely portrayed him as an abuser.
On Monday night, the Oscar-nominated actor was seen reuniting with Gilliam, 83, who previously directed Depp in Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas (1998). A video posted on the X account of the American publication Deadline shows the Pirates of the Caribbean star greeting and warmly kissing Gilliam.
In the video, Depp humorously introduces Gilliam to the assembled press as director Tim Burton, with whom Depp has collaborated on films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (2007).
Gilliam, famous for his role in the original Monty Python team, also directed Depp in the 2009 film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Meanwhile, Amber Heard took to the streets of Spain last week to exercise. The Aquaman star was spotted running in the Spanish capital Madrid on Tuesday. Amber wore a navy crew-neck sweater, matching navy leggings and multi-colored sneakers on her feet.
Her blonde hair was tied into a high ponytail and the star opted for a no-makeup look. She accessorized her look with black wireless earphones, a gold watch, minimalist gold rings and a simple black string around her neck that held her stylized phone with a unicorn sticker.
Amber has lived in the European capital with her three-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige, since 2022. According to PEOPLE, she moved to the continent from Los Angeles because she “just had to leave the United States” after the defamation of 2022. trial against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
In June 2023, Amber paid Johnny a million dollar (around £800,000) settlement. Since the trial, she has appeared in the 2023 films In the Fire and Aquaman, a sequel to the film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Amber played Mera, the wife of Aquaman’s alter ego Arthur Curry, in the Aquaman films and in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. In the final 2023 film, the actress reportedly spent less than 30 minutes on screen in the film and spoke around eleven lines in total.
