“I think so,” Turner said. “I think he’s going to try to pull those cards, but that doesn’t matter to me. I just don’t let the speech deter me. Even when I fought Bobby (Green), Bobby was talking in the Octagon, and I’ve been in gyms where people were trying to talk to me during fights. It’s perfect. If that’s what they want to do, that’s what they want to do. I’m getting ready to go into battle, to have fun, to do my job, to raise my hand, and all this talk, I don’t know who this talk is for. I don’t know if it’s to build their confidence or to give them the boost they need. But when I go in there, I’m going to be quiet, still, and mind my own business, do the work, raise my hand. That’s it.”
And then maybe some video games. Or maybe not, because Jalin Turner still has work to do.
“There are tons of ways to stay hungry,” he said. “It’s realizing that the division is hardening. As I progress, the challenges become greater and that excites me and makes me want to be better. I have to be better at maintaining these positions. Even when I fought Bobby, I thought I had to show the world why I deserved to be in this position, why I’m at the top of the division. And that’s how it’s always been. There have been highs, there have been lows, there have been in-betweens, and every time I’ve been through it, I’ve always overcome it. Every time I reached a peak and something set me back, I rose to the occasion again and grew. And I’ll keep doing it until I have that number one next to my name and that “C” next to my name.
