As part of preparing for her return to the tournament, Hull also took time to practice with three winners of the Shires Junior Golf Tour competition at John O’Gaunt Golf Club in Bedfordshire, where she was playing. as a child and adolescent.
“I always have time for juniors because I was a junior once – and I still think I am sometimes!” she says.
Asked for her best advice, Hull said: “Go ahead, compete in chipping competitions against other juniors, hit behind trees, draw it, fade it, (play) bunker shots and hit -it as hard as possible – it’s not. No matter where you hit it, try to increase that distance, then when you’re older you can still overpower it.
Learning from one of the best in the world was certainly a memorable experience for the trio of young winners.
“Some of the shots she hit were really incredible. The drive on the first hole we played was so cool – if I could hit it like that at some point in my life I would be so happy,” said l 12 year old athlete. old Caelan.
“I’ve never met a female golfer, other than my mom,” added Georgia, also 12. “She gave me so much good advice. In the bunker exercise, you keep your left hand on your left knee and don’t move it, I thought it was great because I have a little trouble in the bunkers.”
Ollie, 16, described playing with Hull as “a once in a lifetime opportunity”.
“His ball striking is crazy, it’s so good,” he said. “It really shows why she’s one of the best. Everything she’s won, it really motivates you to get better and try to reach her level.”
The Shires Junior Tour runs events across four counties: Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
“A round of golf with one of the best golfers in the world, a local golfer as well, someone who has come up through the ranks in this field… It’s an opportunity that doesn’t come around too often,” said tour secretary Steve Jackson.
“Charley was great with them. She made them feel comfortable and knows that sometimes it can be intimidating to play with someone so good.
“But they immediately knew they were in good hands with Charley. She also gave them lots of good advice that will hopefully help them in their careers.”
